Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)

EGF is short for Epidermal Growth Factor, a single polypeptide of 53 amino acids. EGF won the coveted Nobel Prize in Physiology/Medicine in 1986.
EGF is one of the most important growth factor proteins for skin. It has been shown to stimulate the proliferation of different types of cells, especially fibroblasts and epithelial skin cells.
