Maintenance Formula
Your first Maintenance Formula purchase unlocks 12 weeks after your Starter Program purchase, ensuring your skin is ready for the next phase of its transformation journey. Subsequent bottles can then be purchased at any time.
Important: Always order your next Maintenance Formula well in advance to avoid running out. Going without for more than 7 days may cause your skin to "de-acclimatise" to the glycolic acid and require you to restart the 3-Phase Program.
our hero active ingredient:
Glycolic Acid
-
How Glycolic Works
- Stepwise increases of glycolic strength allow skin to adapt without irritation and safely reach the higher concentrations for clearer skin.
- Helps clear congested pores - a key factor in the formation of breakouts..
- Helps reduce the appearance of whiteheads and blackheads.
- Supports clearer, smoother-looking skin.
- Helps keep pores clear to reduce new breakouts.
- Helps fade the appearance of post-acne blemishes.
Why Not All Glycolics Are Equal
For glycolic to deliver real results, three formulation factors are essential:
1. Sufficient Amount of FREE (Active) Glycolic Acid – not just what’s listed on the label. The free form of glycolic is its active working form and should not be diluted by multiple additives or bound to
other ingredients.2. Optimal pH - required to activate the glycolic.
3. Effective Delivery System – ensures an even and deep penetration.
Without all three, results will be limited.
-
Is this Program Right For You?
Glycolic is ideally suitable for those with mild to moderate acne-prone skin with:
- persistent breakouts
- congested or oily skin
and who prefer one structured program rather than multiple products, and a simple, once-daily routine.
This Program May Not Be Suitable For:
- Extremely sensitive skin types.
- Those currently using strong prescription acne medications.
- Severe cystic acne requiring medical supervision.
-
Why Our 3-Phase Program Outperforms
Most single-step glycolic products use low levels of free glycolic acid to
avoid irritation - but this limits the results. Our 3-Phase system builds skin tolerance gradually, allowing it to safely reach the higher concentrations needed to achieve clearer skin.
• Gradual skin acclimatisation - maximises results without irritation.
• Clinically effective levels reached - where real improvements occur.
• Proven over 35+ years — and trusted by thousands of patients.
Frequently Asked Questions
Approximately five months when used as directed.
Apply once daily at bedtime.
Glycolic acid is generally well tolerated and less likely to cause excessive dryness than other active ingredients like Salicylic acid.
We strongly recommend you continue with the Maintenance Formula. This both helps to maintain your clearer skin as well as reduce the chances of new breakouts.
For most sufferers, the general rule is 'less is more'. Many acne sufferers use far too many products in a desperate attempt to clear their skin. But in doing so, they are not only wasting their hard-earned money, they are often using products that are making their acne worse.
If you are using our 3-Phase Program, the only additional skincare you need is a gentle non-comedogenic cleanser (e.g. Dr Mayson's Purifying Gel Cleanser), a non-comedogenic moisturiser (e.g. Dr Mayson's Feather-Light Hydrating Moisturiser), and a suitable oil-free sunscreen.
Oil-based foundations and all powder compacts can clog the pores to worsen acne or even be the sole cause of it.
Choose only foundations that are labelled 'oil free' or '100% water-based'. Powder compacts typically contain oils that can block the pores, so only use loose dusting powder instead.
Choose lotion, milk, or gel type sunscreens which are less likely to clog the pores than oil or cream sunscreens.
Acne occurs when pores become clogged with oil and dead skin cells, allowing normal skin bacteria to multiply and trigger inflammation.
Yes. Stress increases cortisol levels which can stimulate oil production and trigger or worsen breakouts.
Diet is rarely a direct cause of acne, but some foods may worsen existing breakouts
in certain individuals.
There is no clear evidence that these foods cause acne, although they may influence its severity.
Gentle cleansing is important, but over-washing or scrubbing can irritate the skin and worsen acne.
No. While most common in teenagers and adolescents, many adults also experience acne, sometimes into their 30s and 40s. Most adult acne is a result of hormonal imbalances, a symptom of various medical disorders, or a side-effect of some medications.
Acne can occur due to hormonal changes, clogged pores, comedogenic skincare products, medications. Severe forms of acne, particularly cystic or nodular acne often require prescription medications under medical supervision.
