Retinaldehyde - also known as Retinal - is the one-step-removed, immediate precursor to the active form of vitamin A, retinoic acid. It is regarded as one of the most effective cosmetic ingredients currently available to combat the signs of skin ageing – basically because it works like prescription vitamin A but without the latter’s side effects.

Antioxidants
